The most important component of any hydraulic system is the fluid it contains. The first hydraulic equipment used water, which is still a common practice in large hydraulic systems for economic and environmental reasons. Water-based fluids are also used to operate hydraulic equipment in foundries and coal mines where there is a risk of fire. However, most of the hydraulic fluids in use today are based on mineral or synthetic oils. For the food industry it's specially frequent to see synthetic based fluids as regulations around the world are pushing to only allow MOSH/ MOA free lubricants in food processing areas.
Mineral oils satisfy the main requirement of a hydraulic fluid in most non food applications. The main function the must fulfill is to transmit pressure in a defined temperature range. In addition, they can lubricate the moving parts of the hydraulic circuit and protect them against corrosion when the cylinders are completely full (or, if you include VCI oil additives, they'll be able to protect against rust in every possible scenario). However, to carry out many of the functions required in the most complex and modern hydraulic systems, the use of additives is needed to correct and improve the properties of mineral oils. Synthetic oils with H1 registration face big constrains regarding the amount and type of additives that are admissible which make their formulation more challenging.
CAMCO® FMO-8 Series are high quality performance H1 NSF food grade Hydraulic Oils. The CAMCO FMO 8 Series has excellent thermal and oxidative stability providing reliable performance and extending oil life in severe applications. Minimal deposit formation gives a cleaner system and reduced frequency of filter changes.
CAMCO FMO 8 Series are custom-blended polyalphaolefin (PAO) synthetic oils with high viscosity index giving improved lubrication at high and low temperatures, reduced volatility and compatibility with mineral oils and equipment designed for use with mineral oils. Excellent shear stability, as the synthetic requires no VI improvers producing no excessive loss in viscosity due to mechanical shearing. Good antiwear properties promote reduced downtime due to unscheduled maintenance and savings from reduced replacement part costs.
Excellent water separation and hydrolytic stability mean reduced downtime through prolonged lubricant life and increased equipment reliability while keeping safty standards according to HACCP plans in place.
Authorized by NSF for use in Federally inspected meat and poultry plants (H-1). Complies with FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 – Lubricants with Incidental Food Contact.
CAMCO® FMO-8-32 is a fully synthetic ISO VG 32 (ISO 32 oil) Hydraulic Oil that is also suitable for multipurpose lubrications in the food industry. Long operating times due to high temperature and oxidation stability. Good wear protection. Resistant to water vapours, alkali and acid disinfectants and cleaning agents. Tasteless and odourless.
Formulation acc. to the FDA guideline 21 CFR
178.3570. Registrated by the NSF in category H1 for the
use in the food industry if an incidental contact is technically inevitable. Through
optimum additivation against oxidation and aging economically extended operating
times. Resistant to hot and cold water, steam, common disinfection and cleaning
agents. It presents strong adhering properties.
For optimum performance clean thoroughly the lubrication point first mechanically and then
with an appropriate food safe cleaner. Before initial filling of gears remove
corrosion protection agent. Fill gear so that the dipping teeth receive lubricant for
sure. Apply sufficient amount with a brush, dripping oiler, by dipping or central
lubrication systems. Instructions of the gear and machine manufacturer have to be
observed. Relubrication intervals and amount to be defined according to service
conditions. Don't mix with other lubricants.
